The Resolution of Miles!!!

The 3rd and 4th week passed by in a flash. Following his plan to a tee, Miles managed to complete all his runs and cross-training without a hitch.

W3-Tue: 5.32km in 45:31mins with avg pace 8:33 mins/km, avg HR 142 bpm.

W3-Thu: 6.03km in 52:31mins with avg pace 8:42 mins/km, avg HR 144 bpm.

W3-Sat: 7:03km in 1:03 hr with avg pace 8:58 mins/km, avg HR 141 bpm.

W4-Tue: 5.53km in 46mins with avg pace 8:19 mins/km, avg HR 147 bpm.

W4-Thu: 5.71km in 49mins with avg pace 8:35 mins/km, avg HR 140 bpm.

W4-Sat: 6km in 50mins with avg pace 8:21 mins/km, avg HR 145 bpm.

Miles kept to his goal of running based on Heart Rate. Keeping all his runs between 140 – 150 bpm. At the same time, it also kept his average pace between 8 – 9 mins/km

Goal #1: CHECK!

W3-Fri: Swim 1.1 km in 41:17mins with avg pace of 3:45mins/100m.

W4-Fri: Swim 1.2 km in 45:14mins with avg pace of 3:46mins/100m.

Miles also kept to the training schedule, and didn’t skip any of the session, including the cross training sessions.

Goal #2: CHECK!

Miles also planned it such that the mileage increment per week is no higher than 6% of the previous week total mileage.

Goal #3: CHECK!

To include a rest week every 4th week, setting a reduced mileage for the body to recover.

Goal #4: CHECK!

So far so good, everything is going according to plan. However, Miles knows this is too good to be true.

How many times had his plan went awry, be it weather, sickness, injury or just his mood.

At the start of every run, Miles would feel so reluctant and lerthargic.

At the end of every run, Miles would think to himself “No regrets in going for the run”.

With each run, Miles could feel each run seems easier than the previous run.

One thing Miles is assured of if that, as long as he stays resolute in following the training schedule, he will be sure to gradually get closer to his fitness goal.
