Getting the engine going again!
First week of the program when without a hitch. Except for missing out on the Cross Training on Monday, the rest of the run was completed at an easy pace.
As the start of Week 2, blame it on his busy schedule, or just his laziness, Miles decided to skip Monday’s cross training again.
But as luck has it, his work has other ideas and a business trip on Tuesday meant Miles has to miss his Tuesday run.

“First 2 days of the week are already no-show….. will I be able to complete this training program successfully?” Miles mumbled to himself, with his failed “10km” run still at the back of his mind.
Fortunately, three time’s the charm, Miles was able to complete his Wednesday run on the Treadmill at the Hotel Gym. A “Fast” 6.5km run.

Maybe it wasn’t such a bad idea to run on a threadmill, Miles only needed to set the speed at 8km/hr and just focus on running, without having to worry about pace or heartrate.
The easy 5km run on the next day was equally….. easy. This time, setting the treadmill speed at 7.5km/hr.

The week passes by quickly and before long Miles was back in Singapore for the weekend runs.
A fast 5km on Saturday followed by a long run of 8km on Sunday. Purpose is to let the body run with a slight fatigue on Sunday.

True enough, after a fast run on Saturday, Miles could feel the fatigue on Sunday’s run. His pace dropped to almost 9mins/km as he tried to keep his average HR between 135-145 bpm.
“The important thing is to complete the run, regardless of the pace” was what went through his head as he struggled to complete the 8km run.
At the end of the run, the trio sat on the grass patch and complained about the gruesome week they had.

2 missed workouts, 2 runs on treadmill, and 2 gruesome back to back fast-long run. Must say it was quite an eventful week.
Nevertheless, the trio had a good laugh and a good breakfast to end the week.
Looking at next week’s schedule, they noticed they have a rest day on Saturday. So Miles was determined not to skip any other workout next week.
Well, at least… that was the plan….. and we all know what happens to plans…..
… stay tune to see how they fare next week.
