To continue covering races across Singapore, we’re always on the lookout for passionate photographers to join our team.

If you’ve ever thought, “Hey, I’d love to help, but I’m not sure what’s involved,” here’s everything you need to know.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for photography enthusiasts with a passion for sports—especially running.

This passion is more important than you might think. We’ve seen many technically excellent photographers struggle to complete a long race because photographing thousands of runners over several hours can become surprisingly repetitive. If you enjoy the atmosphere, the excitement, and the people that make up the running community, you’ll find the experience far more rewarding.

What You’ll Need

1. Your Own Camera

A DSLR or mirrorless camera—whether full-frame, APS-C or Micro Four Thirds—with a suitable lens for sports photography.

Sorry, but compact cameras and mobile phones simply aren’t fast enough for the job.

2. A Strong Bladder

Seriously.

Major events such as half marathons, full marathons and trail races can require photographers to shoot for up to six hours. There may not be time—or even a nearby toilet—for a bathroom break. If you can hold your camera steady andhold everything else in, you’ll fit right in.

3. Time

Besides shooting the race, you’ll need some time afterwards to process your photos.

We don’t expect award-winning or magazine-quality images, but basic quality control is essential. This includes removing out-of-focus shots (there will be plenty!) and deleting photos with obvious wardrobe malfunctions or other unsuitable images before uploading.

What Do We Pay?

To be completely honest…

Zilch. Zero. Nothing.

Well… not always.

If download fees generate sufficient surplus after covering our operating costs, we may be able to reimburse some transport expenses. Should we secure sponsorships or collaborations with race organisers, we’ll make sure our photographers receive a fair share of any net surplus.

We’re not promising riches—but we’ll always do our best to look after the team whenever circumstances allow.

What You’ll Get Instead

  • Plenty of appreciation from grateful runners.
  • A healthy ego boost when your photos are shared, liked and appreciated by hundreds (sometimes thousands) of people.
  • The satisfaction of giving back to Singapore’s running community.
  • Good karma. (We’re pretty sure it counts.)

What’s the Commitment Like?

  1. Every month, we’ll publish a list of races we’re covering. You can volunteer for one race, several races, or whichever events fit your schedule.
  2. Be prepared to wake up at some truly ungodly hours. Runners love early starts, and unfortunately, photographers have to be there even earlier.
  3. There’s no minimum number of races you must cover. However, we’d appreciate it if volunteers could commit to at least one race every quarter, and perhaps more during the busy racing season from July to the end of the year.
  4. We ask that photos be processed and uploaded within one day after the race—same-day uploads are even better. Thankfully, modern editing software and AI tools make it much easier to filter out blurry, misfired, overexposed and underexposed images, so the workflow is much faster than it used to be.
