Surviving the first week of Phase 2!
The first four consecutive runs was a big change from the Novice Training Program. Miles had to keep reminding himself not to push too hard for these 4 runs. Even so, there is a weekly speedwork on Wednesday. It was all very new to Miles, and also very tiring!!! They had not done such hard runs before for the past 6 years, so it was a refreshing yet painful change for them.
Macro Week #08 (10km Intermediate)
Micro Week #01, Session 5 –
Plan: Run 6.4 km
Actual: Run 6.4 km (47:22 mins)

The 6.4 km long run seems easy for Miles and his buddies, having ran longer distances for the past few weeks. It was a welcome change to run such a “short” distance on the weekend. They couldn’t be happier to have it easy on the first week.
Micro Week #01, Session 6 –
Plan: Cross-Training 1 hr
Actual: Walk 1:00:16 (5.19 km)

An easy 1 hour walk as cross training on Sunday, knowing that they will have to repeat it all over again the following day. They quickly adapted to this new program, being very careful not to over-stretch themselves. Running 5 times a week is quite a big jump from the Novice Program of running 3 times a week.
A good start to the brand new program. This marks the start of a grueling 8 weeks of intensive training. Running 5 days a week, with 4 consecutive days during the weekdays is a big jump from their usual 3 runs per week in the past years.
It seems like it will be a difficult 8 weeks ahead, but the trio are determined to grit their teeth and go through the program as close as possible.
