Good start to the second half!
Miles felt good throughout week 5 of the 10km Intermediate Training program. After the fast paced 5km Time Trial last weekend, he felt that the runs this week was a lot easier than before. Could it be psychological? Or could it be the effects of the past week’s training.
Macro Week #12 (10km Intermediate)
Micro Week #05, Session 4 –
Plan: Run 4.8 km
Actual: Run 4.81 km (38:16 mins)

For the 4th consecutive runs this week, Miles keep it easy, targeting around 140 bpm HR. Surprisingly, he still finished the run in under 8mins/km pace.
Also, he doesn’t feel as tired at this point of the week, compared to when he first started the training.
Micro Week #05, Session 5 –
Plan: Run 9.6 km
Actual: Run 9.61 km (1:15:45 mins)

The weekend finally came, and Miles was delighted to meet up with his buddies Wade & Gallop for the long run. Another easy run in the bag, though the average HR was a bit higher than he had wanted. Perhaps it was his obsession to keep the run under 8mins/km pace, just as he did for the rest of the runs this week.
Micro Week #05, Session 6 –
Plan: Cross Training 1 hr
Actual: Walk 6:02 km (1:06 hr)

Cross Training on Sunday was doing walking around the track, boring but at least he could stop anytime. Miles was in a groove and ended up walking for the full 1 hr… and a bit more since he was close to completing 6km.

Looking back at the runs he completed in Week 5. He concluded that his fitness has indeed improved. Average HR was maintained at a reasonable range, and pace seems to have improved marginally.
Miles was secretly pleased with himself in the 5km Trial run last week, and everything seems to be going well. He is definitely looking forward to see how he will fare at the end of this training program.
