Murphy is Back!!!
After a lower mileage rest on Week 4, it’s back to business again on Week 5.

Week 5 was a good week for Miles. Everything went smoothly according to plan, and he even manage to throw in a few 15mins walk and some strength training for good measure.

W5-Wed: WALK 2x 15mins at 13 mins/km pace.
W5-Thu: RUN 6.04km in 52:01mins with avg pace 8:36 mins/km, avg HR 144 bpm.

All Miles need to do is to keep the consistency and discipline. Progress seems to be looking good.
Slight increase in average HR, but pace has also increased slightly over the previous weeks.
Miles thought to himself “Miles is BACK!!! Let’s keep going and stick to the plan!!!”
Alas…. the good news lasted only 1 week… Miles realized someone else is back….
MURPHY’s Law: “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.”
First sign of trouble was when Miles had to skip his Tuesday run due to sore throat and a chill.
“It’s fine! Things happen. I’ll just rest a day or two, skipping one run isn’t the end of the world” Miles consoled himself.

The next time Miles found himself putting on his running shoes was on Saturday. So, he rested for 7 whole days since his last run.
W6-Sat: RUN 5km in 42:16mins with avg pace 8:27 mins/km, avg HR 148 bpm.
Miles thought the rest would do him good, but alas, the sore throat now has the company of cough and running nose.

Since it was the weekend, Miles decided to go ahead with an easy 5km run with his buddies.
Wade and Gallop were concerned that Miles still went ahead with the run in his current condition. But their protests were waved away by Miles. He has been known to be stubborn. Extremely stubborn!!!
And Miles would live to rue that day he didn’t listen to his buddies.
Week 7 came and Miles found his condition worsen and eventually had to succumbed to a visit to the local GP, got a good scolding and two days of medical leave.

Miles was devasted with his Week 6 and week 7 showing.
And on Thursday, Miles’ stubborn nature saw him going for a 35mins run-walk as he couldn’t stand being so inactive for the past 10 days.
W7-Thu: RUN-WALK 3.82km in 35mins with avg pace 9:10 mins/km, avg HR 139 bpm.
A disastrous 2 weeks made Miles grumpy and irritable. He can’t believe all his hard week in the previous weeks had just gone to waste.
The journey to fitness is never a smooth and straight path….. but he must persist!
