Thy (Training Plan) End is Near!!!
Week 6 of the 10km (Novice) schedule! The second last week (Remember Miles skipped week 1)
Miles can’t wait to see if he is able to finish the 10 km run in one piece in two weeks’ time. It has been a long while since he and his buddies tried doing a 10 km run. It will mark a good milestone towards their dream of running a marathon again by the end of this year.
“But first, let’s get through this week” as Miles embark on his weekday runs.
Macro Week #06 (10km Novice)
Micro Week #07, Session 1 –
Plan: Run 4.8 km
Actual: Run 4.82 km (39:58 mins)

Miles is getting used to these 4.8km runs and kind of enjoys them. Keeping them at an easy pace, he finishes it at an expected low average HR of 139 bpm. He has learned not to care about his pace, just wanted to keep it easy in preparation for the rest of the week.
Micro Week #07, Session 2 –
Plan: Cross Training 40 mins
Actual: Brisk Walk 40:16 mins (4.43 km)

For the second week in a row, Miles had to travel due to work. Cross training of 40mins was done on a treadmill, and provided a relief for his tired legs on Wednesday. By now, Miles has gotten used to the routine and hopefully, his body is adapting well to it as well.
Micro Week #07, Session 3 –
Plan: Run 3.2 km
Actual: Run 3.2 km (24:01 mins)

Finally, the last run during the weekday. A short 3.2 km, also done on the treadmill. Similar to what he did the previous week, running at a constant speed of 8km/hr. Though it was faster than his usual run, and the average HR was a bit higher than he wanted, Miles just felt to bored to stay on the treadmill any longer and wanted to get it over. Still no harm done to run such short distances a bit faster than usual.
Miles is now more comfortable in adapting the training program to suit his daily life and schedule.
Soon, it is time for the final long run before his mini goal of 10km.

But before that, Miles and his buddies couldn’t resist a little indulgence… and arranged to meet at a popular Fried Kway Teow stall.
They arrived before the stall officially open and still had to queue and waited for about 30mins, before they could dive into one of their favourite food.
Consider that their carbo (and fat) loading meal before the long run on Saturday!!! *burp*
….. (to be continued)
If you had followed their running routes, you would have guess where is this Fried Kway Teow stall.
Do you have your own favourite Fried Kway Teow stall? Do leave a note in the comment section!
